I am pleased and very honored to announce that my song "City of Love/Ahavat Olam" has been selected for inclusion in the Shalshelet Foundation's 2013 Festival for New Jewish Music!
Over 100 composers from around the world submitted works to
the competition and getting picked is a very big deal. Finalists will have their songs included in a published collection (that will be sold to benefit the non-profit foundation and its work in soliciting and encouraging new Jewish music); and will get to perform their compositions live at the Shalshelet 2013 Festival, being held in Miami, Florida next February.
I am, frankly, staggered and sort of over the moon.

Now, I just have to figure out how I will raise the money to pay for getting me and my guitar there. Probably will have to sell a lot of bike Judaica and do a bunch of under-the-table labor on the side.
Still, this is pretty amazing and I admit that my little mind is blown.

Mega cool, Beth. Make sure to travel using some non-guitar-busting mode of transit.
Thanks Kent! Unfortunately, because of time and distance invovled my only choice will be to fly there and back. I am researching cheap guitar options and there may be the possibility of using a loaner in Miami (though I don't particularly care for playing a strange guitar, it may be my best option.)
I'll keep folks psoted as this journey progresses --
Agree with Kent. Very cool. IRT funding, I have $13.95 just waiting to post to your fundraising link.
Mr. Jazz -- Thanks so much! I am thrilled that you'd like to help out. How about this: If you are not yet familiar with my music, I invite you to go here:

... and purchase the album, either as a CD or a download. That way I get some money AND my music gets out there a little more.
At this point I don't yet have a plan formulated for serious fundraising -- I'm just starting my new teaching gig, getting ready for the Jewish High Holy Days and basically sucked into the Autumn Vortex.
I hope to have a more expanded online fundraising plan around Oct. 1 and will post details then.
Meanwhile, I am pleased at hearing so many good wishes from the bikey side of my circle.
Thanks again and happy riding!
